INSPIRATION FROM MEXICO

 

Concept

Taking inspiration from Mexico, this jewelry studio opened in Tokyo in 1991.
Hicommune will be established in 2018 under the concept of “friendly exchanges” through dinners, artists, etc. from all backgrounds and nationalities, including Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.  
The idea that “freedom and hope is fostered in the hearts of people through creative exchanges between the cultures of the world” will be embedded within Hicommune’s creations.

Jeweler & Designer

In 1991, I set up a jewellery studio in Tokyo, and then travelled to Thailand and other Asian countries. Afterwards I crossed to Los Angeles, California on the West Coast of the US.I was inspired by the unique world view of the Latin culture, travelled to Mexico, and strengthened ties with local people and jewellers.

My long term stay in Mexico

I moved around to different places, experiencing different art and urban landscapes and meeting a variety of people. I incorporated the nature and the different flavours of the United States, Mexico and other Latin cultures into my own jewellery production.I used my cultural roots from Japan as a base, and combined this with my other life experiences to provide the inspiration for the development of my own work. I exchanged ideas with fellow Japanese designers, and with artists of all nationalities. It is in this way that fresh idea are discovered.

Inspiration from Mexico 

Skillfully crafting the ancient motifs and using materials that are carefully selected by the sophisticated eye of the jeweler, he creates a classical vintage feel, but then combines the designer’s global sensibility that adds new ideas and art to the jewelry.

Studio

With all the modern technology advancements, now is a great age. Because of this I choose to go the opposite. In the corner of the suburbs of Tokyo, in a small workshop that has been unchanged for decades, works a man, a “craftsmen.” There are no two pieces of work that are exactly the same in texture and expression. It gives me excitement, and I take great pride and joy finishing each piece by hand. Creating a new world view through branding and connecting people through each project. This is Hicommune.

By using the Brand, “Hicommune” as a trigger, we hope to create and establish a deep connection with people, regardless of race, from all over the world. There we will exchange ideas with an aim of, “creating a creative world” through jewelry and people. We hope to use the brand as a trigger, to bring people closer together that wish to connect.To bring quality over quantity in a world where craftsmanship can be lost in a world of overflowing products.To get ahead of brands by value standards. We believe that there is great significance in communicating the excellent skill and art of craftsmanship by deepening the relationship between people, and allowing the opportunity to share their stories, ideas and the secret meaning behind their work by opening exhibitions, and events.
